Luke Jackson- A victory for the Cavaliers

I’ll tell you what, I was somewhat turned off after the Cavaliers made their 10th pick. I wasn’t upset, but a little disappointed. But it turns out, I and many other Cavaliers fans were expecting something big to happen, and no trade ever occurred, so it acted as a letdown.

But in all truthfulness, Luke Jackson is a great pick for the Cavaliers at #10.

I still feel that if Diop and the #10 really could’ve netted us Caron Butler, it should’ve been done. I understand that we need shooters, but at the same time, we need talent and ball handlers. Whether this deal was on the table or not, it ended being a successful draft now that I look back on it. Luke Jackson is one of the most polished players in the draft. He’ll help spread the floor a great deal, and expect LeBron’s assist #’s to skyrocket this season. Beyond his shooting, Luke is actually a damn good athlete despite members of the Bird-party telling us otherwise, and loves to play an all-around game. He really is a tough competitor.

Beyond Luke’s actual talent, there was a black hole at the SF position most of last season. It was either Eric Williams or Ira Newble who are both on the whole; one-dimensional. That alone upgrades the SF position AND the Cavaliers overall team. You can never have enough multi-talented players on your roster. You’re looking at a guy who is one of the most sure things in the Top 10. Dwight Howard, Livingston, Gordon, Deng, Iguodala, Araujo, and Childress went higher but all things considered, are not quite as polished as LJ. I think we can be confident that we’re getting a contributor this time my fellow fans.

The acquisition of the man known as "Sasha" made this pick hazy with me at first. I thought that we got our man, a shooter at the SF position who is young and talented. After we got him, I thought for certain that Jackson was not the pick. I was obviously wrong and my question still remains about how both of these players will get enough minutes. I think we’re pulling for Luke Jackson to be starting this season, and Sasha likely backing him up. But Ira Newble, Kedrick Brown, and DaJuan Wagner will find minutes tough to come by on the win with LeBron at the 2. All signs would indicate Pax is done re-shaping the roster.
